Chris* had a 12 month lease and always paid rent in advance, looked after the property with good reports from their inspections. However Chris received a notice to leave for no other reason than it was the end of their fixed term lease.
Thankfully Chris did receive their full bond back but due to their stressful experience with renting, has decided to move back with family for the foreseeable future while renting remains unfair.
As part of the Make Renting Fair In Queensland Alliance, we continue to advocate for the removal of an ‘end of a fixed term’ as a reason to end a tenancy.
