Another end of a fixed term lease

Lee* is another tenant who faced an eviction simply because it was the end of a fixed term lease.

Lee reported some necessary urgent repairs that were needed before they had to vacate their home over winter. However no repairs were done and their lease was not renewed. Lee was a good tenant with the real estate having no issues with Lee as a renter.

Lee since kept an eye on the rental website and noted the rent had been increased with the new lease. Lee has also noticed that the outside repairs have still not been completed, over 5 months since vacating the property.

This is another reason why we continue to advocate for the removal of an ‘end of a fixed term’ as a reason to end a tenancy, for no other reason than it is the end of a fixed term lease.
